2007 Piola Merlot
In Piedmont and other regions of northern Italy, the name Piola was used to describe a place where villagers and visitors would gather and dine on simple food and the local unsophisticated but witty wines, many times straight out of the barrel. The name has been used by winegrowers to describe something that is cool, pleasing, or enjoyable. At the request of many customers, we have chosen to bottle some of our Suisun Valley Merlot and extend to it the name “Piola” principally used by our Cabernet Sauvignon. This simple and lively Merlot can be enjoyed with every day food like Pasta, Pizza, and Salads or special foods like Polenta, or Beef and Lamb dishes.

Winemaker's Comments
This 2007 Merlot vintage has been gifted with an almost ideal Suisun Valley September maturing weather. A garnet color adobes pleasant fruit aromas and flavors of blackberry, currant, cedar and green olives along with mint, tea-leaf and eucalyptus tones. The rich fruit, the soft tannins and medium finish borrowed from a touch of Cabernet Sauvignon, harmonize well into a pleasant medium body wine ideal for every day meals.
